Vassilis Pavlopoulos graduated from the Department of Philosophy, Pedagogy, and Psychology (major in Psychology) of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 1992. He conducted his doctoral studies with a scholarship from the Greek State Scholarships Foundation and received his PhD degree in Social Psychology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 1998 (graduated with honors). His thesis was on parental perceptions of children's personality.

He has been a member of the teaching staff in the Department of Psychology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens since 2004, at the positions of Lecturer (2004-2008), Assistant Professor (2009-2015), and Associate Professor (2015-present) of Cross-Cultural Psychology. He teaches Cross-Cultural and Social Psychology classes to undergraduate and postgraduate students at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He is the supervisor of degree theses, master's theses, and PhD dissertations. Also, he coordinates the Students' Practice Committee of the Department of Psychology. He is director of the Centre for Cross-Cultural Psychology

His research interests focus on acculturation and adaptation of immigrants, resilience processes of immigrant youth, perceived discrimination and beliefs about justice, cross-cultural study of personal and political values, and the cultural processes of behavioral intentions.  

In addition to his teaching and research work, Vassilis Pavlopoulos acts as a reviewer for international journals. He is associate editor of Psychology: The Journal of the Hellenic Psychological Society. He has been coordinator of the Social Psychology section of the Hellenic Psychological Society between 2007-2015. He has participated in the organizing and scientific committees of Hellenic and international conferences. Also, he is academic advisor of the National Academic Recognition Information Center.
