The second level of postgraduate studies at the Department of Psychology leads to a doctoral thesis and a PhD in Psychology.

A doctoral degree takes a minimum of three years to complete. A supervisor and a three-member advisory committee are assigned to every doctoral student. After the dissertation has been written, the manuscript must be officially submitted to and approved by the supervisor and the advisory committee. A seven-member doctoral commission is appointed then for the evaluation of the defense of the candidate's thesis.

Doctoral dissartations can be written in Greek or in English. External Faculty from Greece or abroad may participate in the advisory committee or in the doctoral commission.
