LABORATORY FOR THE STUDY OF FAMILY PSYCHOLOGY

The Laboratory for the Study of Family Psychology, an evolution of the Centre for the Study of Family within the Department of Psychology, has the following objectives:

  1. To conduct research on family studies, specifically exploring parent-child and parent-adolescent relationships and their impact on individual development.
  2. To raise awareness and provide information to students, teachers, educators, and parents through seminars, symposia, workshops, lectures, and conferences, aimed at offering guidance and counseling support.
  3. To adapt and develop tools and scales related to family functioning and optimal parenting practices.
  4. To implement psychopedagogical interventions and produce corresponding educational materials for select schools and school networks in Greece (including Model, Experimental, Music, Sports, and Arts secondary schools, as well as both public and private schools at the primary and secondary levels) and within specific educational institutions (such as Counseling and Guidance Centers - KESYP, and Centers for Differential Diagnosis, Diagnosis, and Support - KEDDY). This is done in collaboration with doctoral candidates and graduate students from the Department and other departments of the National and Kapodistrian University (as part of Diploma and Doctoral research projects).
  5. To conduct educational programs promoting best parenting practices and effective family functioning in public and private organizations (including higher education institutions, technical institutes, banking organizations, private post-secondary educational institutions, and vocational training organizations).

The Laboratory for the Study of Family Psychology consolidates and systematically enhances the long-standing research and educational efforts of its members and the Department of Psychology, significantly increasing the outreach and public engagement of both the Laboratory and the Department.
