FOTEINI CHRISTIDI

Foteini Christidi is an Assistant Professor of Neuropsychology. She studied Psychology at Panteion University (2007) and completed a three-year postgraduate program in Clinical Neuropsychology (Medical School, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens & Health Sciences Center, University of Texas, USA, 2011). She holds a PhD from the School of Medicine of Athens (NKUA, 2016) in neuropsychology and advanced brain imaging techniques.

She received two years of training (2007–2009) in neuropsychological assessment at the Neuropsychology Laboratory of the 1st Dpt of Neurology (Aiginiteion Hospital). She obtained further specialization in modern neuroimaging techniques at the Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory (Baylor College of Medicine & Texas Children’s Hospital, Houston, USA, 2010) and at the Institute of Neuroradiology (Universitäts Spital Zürich, Switzerland, 2014). She also received training in Liaison Psychiatry (Queens Medical Center, Dpt of Psychological Medicine, Nottingham, UK, 2016). She has completed two postdoctoral research projects at the NKUA School of Medicine (2017–2019, 2019–2022) and one postdoctoral project at the School of Medicine, Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) (2022–2023).

From 2007 to 2016 she served as a full-time scientific collaborator at the 1st Dpt of Neurology (Aiginiteion Hospital), and she continues her research collaboration as an external collaborator. She is also an external collaborator at the 2nd Dpt of Psychiatry (“Attikon” University General Hospital), at the DUTH School of Medicine, and at the Computational Neuroimaging Group of Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland.

In addition to teaching Neuropsychology courses in the undergraduate program of the Department of Psychology at NKUA, she teaches in several postgraduate programs (Department of Psychology NKUA, NKUA School of Medicine, DUTH, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and University of Thessaly), particularly on topics related to neuropsychology and the combined use of neuropsychological assessment and advanced neuroimaging techniques in clinical and research settings, including neurorehabilitation.

She has many years of clinical and research experience in the study of cognitive functions, and the application of advanced neuroimaging techniques (especially diffusion tensor imaging and tractography), maintaining collaborations with university departments in Greece and abroad. As a result of these collaborations, she has more than 100 publications in peer-reviewed, high impact-factor international journals, as well as numerous conference presentations. To date, she has received 8 scholarships and 7 awards for her research work.

Her clinical and research interests focus on neuropsychology and the identification of brain regions and neural networks that support cognitive functions—particularly memory—using advanced neuroimaging techniques.

She is a founding member of the Hellenic Neuropsychological Society, and a regular member of the Hellenic Psychological Society and the International Neuropsychological Society.
